Gus Macker: Courts were back in session in Sterling

The Franklin Street Pub team competes against the Ballin’ Blasters on Saturday morning at the Gus Macker tournament at Northland Mall. After a 10-year absence, the three-on-three basketball tournament returned to Sterling, packing the mall’s parking lot with competitors – more than 600 of them – volunteers, and spectators who came to watch the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament featured mens, womens and kids courts, 3-point and free throw competitions, and a slam dunk contest. Proceeds from the event will go toward the April House Children's Advocacy Center in Morrison, which helps child victims of sexual and physical abuse. Organizer Kristina Kaecker said a total take hadn’t been determined as of Sunday. Go to macker.com for information on Gus Macker.
