Art festival returns Sept. 10 in Grand Detour

GRAND DETOUR – Artists and artisans will show their works Sept. 10 at the Grand Detour Arts Festival at the John Deere Historic Site, 8334 S. Clinton St.

The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Entries include painting, graphics, sculpture, iron work, jewelry, photography, drawing, and artisan crafts (clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper and wood).

Admission to the festival, as well as to the historic site’s exhibits and blacksmith demonstrations, is free.

Food vendors will be on site and musicians will perform. Dixon artist Sydni Reubin will offer a live painting demo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Student art will be judged by retired art teacher Gerilyn Larson at The Next Picture Show. She will write comments on each student’s work. Awards will be given in each age division at 2 p.m. at the show.
