ROCK FALLS – A pair of local business owners didn’t want to play the same old corporate game anymore, so they took matters into their own hands.

Now, their gaming store has a new name and a renewed emphasis on the kinds of games that bring families together at the dinner table. The store formerly known as The Gaming Goat shed its corporate links, and name, and now goes by We Play Games.

Owners Brandon Wallace and Aaron Gonzalez realized the corporate model wasn’t a good fit for Rock Falls.

“We wanted a larger commitment to family without having to allocate our funds to products that weren’t selling in our store,” Gonzalez said. “Our opinions differed from the corporate model which caused a strain, ultimately leading to our departure.”

On Dec. 5, Jeff Bergren CEO/President of The Gaming Goat Inc. announced on Facebook that the store was no longer a licensed TGG dealer.

Today, We Play Games’ mission puts more of an emphasis on family games.

“We will begin stocking more and more games to bring to your table after dinner. Create those moments with your family and take advantage of the face to face time that board games create.” Gonzalez said.

The store at 1023 First Ave. is open 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
