DIXON – Mary Ann Shipman, 65, of Dixon, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at her home in Dixon. Mary Ann worked for KSB Hospital for 47 years. She would have officially retired on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018.
Mary Ann was born Aug. 29, 1952, in Dixon, the son of Ernest “Ernie” and Mary Ellen (Brierton) Rhodes. She married David Rae Shipman on May 25, 1975, in Dixon. Mary Ann enjoyed crafts, sewing and was known for making her own hats. She volunteered her time to Meals on Wheels and KSB Caring Friends.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Shipman; one son, Edwin Thomas (Casey) Shipman of Clarksville, Tennessee; one daughter, Mary Beth (Matt Nelson) Shipman of Dixon; six grandchildren, Andrew Shipman, Colton Fuller, Alex Shipman, Izabella Nelson, Abbey Shipman and Alayna Shipman; two brothers, Jim Rhodes of Dixon and Robert Rhodes of Polo; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas Rhodes and Ernest Rhodes Jr.; and one sister, Shirley Winstead.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Brian McWethy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to KSB Caring Friends.
