MORRISON – More than 6,000 visitors are expected to paint the streets and view the art Saturday at this year’s Paint the Town event.

During festivities, participants will be provided supplies to paint a 5-foot-by-5-foot square on the street.

Registration and bag pickup will be at the drive next to American Legion Post 328, 306 E. Main St.

Registration is $13 a square at Morrison City Hall, 200 W. Main St., through today. They also can be reserved at paintthetownmorrison.com/registration (online registration comes with an extra fee) through 4 p.m. today. Orders will not be accepted Friday. Squares will be available at the event for $18 a piece, beginning at noon.

Entertainment spans from noon into the evening and will include street performers. There also will be food vendors, serving up pork chops, burgers, brats, hot dogs, nachos, walking tacos, kettle corn, pies, homemade ice cream, shaved ice, drinks and more.

The windows on Main Street have been assigned to 28 different artists, plus the Morrison Junior and Senior High School art classes. More than 40 storefront windows will be painted with scenes and designs.

The Harvest Hammer 5K Run/Duathlon, which features many races, begins at 8:15 at Morrison High School, 643 Genesee St. Go to harvesthammer.org for a complete schedule and to learn how to register.

The streets will be blocked the next day to vehicle traffic to allow people to view the finished art.
