Spooky choo-choo in Sterling, books that go boo! in Dixon

Chills and thrills are on tap Saturday in Sterling and Dixon.

In Sterling, brave families are invited to bring a flashlight and take a spooky stroll through grounds at the Dillon Home, 1005 E. Third St., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. when a skeleton crew will bring the home’s historic locomotive to life.

There will be photo ops with gobs of ghoulish creatures, and goodie bags for the kids, who must be accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 18.

Admission is free; call the Sterling Park District, 815-622-6202, for more information.

In Dixon, Sauk Valley area authors Terri Reid and Shannon Bailey, who write about local ghosts, twin vampires, and paranormal romance, will provide a “An Afternoon of Chills” – scary tales terrifyingly told – at 2 p.m. at Dixon Public Library, 221 S. Hennepin Ave.

How scary? It’s not recommended for anyone younger than 14.

Call 815-284-7261 for more information.
