ROCK FALLS – Sergio Vivarelli, 83, of Rock Falls, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at his home.

He was born June 6, 1935, in Balbano, Lucca, Italy, the son of Gino and Elena (Grazianni) Vivarelli. He immigrated to the United States in 1954. He began his working career at Wahl Clipper in Sterling, and later worked for 30 years at Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. in Sterling, retiring from the scrapyard as an engineer. He married the former Elisa Salvatori on April 27, 1957, in Rock Falls. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. He took great pride in his garden and his grape arbor, from which he produced family wine.

Survivors include his wife, Elisa; his son, Mario (Debbie) Vivarelli of Sterling; his daughter, Anita Vivarelli of Rock Falls; his granddaughter, Ashley (George) Danilkowicz; and great-granddaughter, Marissa; his sister, Franca (Bruno) Bandira of Barbano, Lucca, Italy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, followed by the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Richard M. Russo officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer Research.
