With impeachment near, it’s time to repair the damage Trump has done

Now that the Department of Justice has alleged, in court documents, candidate Donald Trump committed campaign finance felonies and seems well on its way to exposing decades of the family’s continuing criminal enterprise, the end of his assault on our democracy is tantalizingly close.

It’s time now to work on restoring our cherished institutions, repairing our tarnished reputation and standing among the nations, and establishing priorities more in keeping with our nation’s ideals – not to mention re-establishing a more civil, sane society based on scientific knowledge, respect for the truth, and Judeo-Christian values and virtues common to all religions.

The president’s disdain for globalism, evidence of his ignorance and extreme small-mindedness, must be rectified, for only as a globe will we survive.

National economies have been globalized for some time now, the world’s interconnectedness increasing exponentially in the computer age. Our physical interconnectedness with everything of the globe is being driven home with an ironic vengeance; ultimately, humankind’s very existence is being threatened by humankind.

Humanity’s exponentially increasing knowledge, lust for power, and greedy nature have spawned a world at the tipping point. Worldwide, people’s fears are being exploited, usually to promote hate and purposes contradictory to their own best interests.

The rising tide of hatred must be reversed and ebb away, repelled by humankind’s more powerful loving, compassionate nature. Only then can we effectively address our social ills, especially the obscene riches the few enjoy at the expense of the sufferings of the poor and disadvantaged.

The society of humankind and the society of our environment must be set aright, and darn quick, for Earth to remain a habitable planet.

Otherwise, Mother Earth and Mother Nature shall take care of the blight so severely plaguing them.
