Missiles cruise past Clippers

Cougars stay balanced in victory; Sauk wins Arrowhead opener

Milledgeville rolled to an NUIC East home win, beating Amboy 69-28.

Treyton Selman scored 19 points for Milledgeville. Christian Toms-Smith scored 14, and Jack Munz added 11.

Preston Henkel scored eight, and Hunter Zimmerly added seven for the Clippers.

The Missiles jumped out to a 25-8 lead after one quarter, and led 44-16 at halftime.

Eastland 77, Scales Mound 60: Kaden Henze scored 23 points, and Kellen Henze and Reid Janssen each scored 20 for the Cougars in a win in Lanark.

Eastland led 19-7 after one quarter, and 41-17 at halftime. Scales Mound scored 24 points in the third quarter, but could only chip away at the lead.


LaSalle-Peru 40, Sterling 18: The Golden Warriors fell to their NIB-12 rivals in a dual at Musgrove Fieldhouse.

Four of Sterling’s wins came via decision, and they also received a forfeit. Shawn Ramsey won 8-3 at 106 pounds, while Nick Simester was a 3-2 winner at 160. Cade Lyons earned an 8-4 win at 195, and Jason Farnham won 2-1 at 220.

Comets go 2-0 in Peru: Newman knocked off triangular host St. Bede 39-27, and edged Riverdale 34-29.

Mason Glaudel (120) and Mason Newman (170) each earned a second-period pin versus the Bruins, while Riley Wescott (220) earned a third-period pin versus the Rams. Aidan Langley (285) won a major decision against Riverdale, Cody Donna (132) won via decision versus the Rams, and Will Rude (126) won a decision against St. Bede.

Fulton splits at home: The Steamers defeated Kewanee 52-30, and fell to rival Morrison 54-18 in a pair of Three Rivers duals.

Max Pannell was the only double-winner for Fulton, notching a pair of first-period pins at 195 pounds. The Steamers’ other wins against Morrison were forfeits.

The Mustangs got pins from Andrew Schmidt (126), Ryan Kennedy (132), Kayden White (138), Thomas Dauphin (152), Bryan Jiminez (170) and Riley Wilkens (285), and also received three forfeits from Fulton.

In the match against Kewanee, Fulton got pins from Noah Ford (126), Michael Apostolos (132), Jake Pannell (160), Eli Pannell (220) and Nate Portz (285). Lucas Raab won a 10-1 major decision at 138, and the Steamers also received a pair of forfeits.

Swimming & diving

Dunlap 110, Sterling 75: The Water Warriors dropped a dual meet in Dunlap, winning five individual events and the 200 medley relay.

Reiley Austin won the 100 butterfly (58.22 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (58.32) to lead Sterling. Jack Wike won the 100 IM (2:08.07), Michael Garland won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.01), and Brayden Wolf took the 1-meter diving competition (207.90 points).

Wike, Garland, Austin and Calvin Sandefer teamed up to win the relay in 1:45.22.

Byron 138, Rockford Christian 86: The Tigers won 10 of the 11 events in a dual victory at home.

Dixonites Brock Drengenberg, Carson Faley and Andrew Lohse teamed with William Carlson to win both the 200 medley relay (1:48.83) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:29.67).

Drengenberg added wins in the 200 freestyle (1:55.33) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.50), while Faley won the 100 butterfly (56.88 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (59.04). Lohse took the 50 freestyle in 23.32 seconds.

Men’s basketball

Sauk Valley 94, Illinois Valley 65: The Skyhawks cruised to victory on the road, opening their Arrowhead Conference schedule with a win over IVCC.

Trevon Adams finished with 37 points, 11 assists and three rebounds for Sauk. Chris Ellis and Jase Brock added eight points each, and George Lee and Sean Gingrich scored six points apiece, as 13 different Skyhawks scored. Lee led the way with nine rebounds.
