STERLING – James R. White Sr., 82, of Sterling, passed away on February 13, 2019 in Springfield, MO.
James was born on October 19, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Frank and Marion White. He married Marilyn Hook on March 7, 1954. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire for 37 years, retiring in 1991. He loved his family, woodworking, antiques, was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and loved playing Santa for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Hopes of Springfield, Mo.; three sons, Jim (Stephen) White Jr. of Cape Coral, FL, Michael (Lynda) White of Corydon, IN and Chris (Gina) White of Rock Falls, IL; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Ann Blatz of Rock Falls, IL.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn, his parents, two brothers, Donald and Melvin and four sisters, Doris, Frances, Lillian and Judy.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2200 16th Ave. in Sterling. A memorial to Wesley United Methodist has been established.
