Food Truck Fridays loads up a full menu of activities

Popular event kicks off its second season on May 3

ROCK FALLS – Fire dances, giant Jengas, live music and more: Rock Falls Tourism officials are beefing up their second season of Food Truck Fridays with four evenings of themed entertainment.

Food Trick Fridays will be held the first Friday of the month, May 3 through Aug, 2 in RB&W Park along the riverfront. Food vendors will set up from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to tempt the lunch crowd, and will return to the park from 5 to 9 p.m. each day to serve up food while various activities are offered until 8 p.m.

For the May 3 kickoff, a mobile Escape Room, in which teams of up to 12 people are locked in and must figure out clues, answer riddles and find keys to escape, will be set up. Advance registration is required; the cost is $15.

The theme of evening is superheroes, and a bean bags toss, giant Jenga and other games will be available.

Mexican food vendors confirmed so far are Brito’s Grill, Hermanos Munoz and Willy’s, with more vendors to come. Happy Tails Mobile Adoption Unit and product vendors also will participate.

In June, local band Problem Child will perform from 6 to 8 p.m.

July will be Luau Night, with hula dancers from Aloha Chicago presenting a traditional Hawaiian lei greeting and teaching hula dance techniques. The evening will end with a fire dance.

For the August event, patrons will be invited to step back in time and dress in fashions from their favorite era. DJ Joey Hume will be playing hits from the ‘50s through the ‘90s.
