FULTON – Four people were hurt early Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover shortly after 1 a.m. near Penrose and Smaltz roads northeast of Fulton.
Kylie A. Weerts, 22, of Sterling, was drunk and driving east on Penrose Road when she failed to make a curve, went into the ditch and rolled, Whiteside County sheriff’s deputies said in a news release.
Morgan A. Arellano, 18, of Dixon, was thrown from the vehicle and airlifted to a Rockford hospital. Kimberly N. Kent, 22, and a 17-year-old boy, both from Rock Falls, and Weerts were treated at Mercy North Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa, the release said.
Their conditions were unavailable Monday.
Weerts was charged with DUI and driving too fast for conditions; all four were cited for failure to wear a seat belt.
More charges may be pending, the release said.
Weerts was on probation at the time of the crash.
She was convicted in September 2017 in Whiteside County of misdemeanor battery, one count of felony aggravated battery was dismissed, and a petition to revoke her probation was flied in November after she was charged in June with criminal damage to property and in January with resisting, both misdemeanors.
