Late runs lift Cardinals over Brewers; Cubs score early and often vs. LA

Cardinals 4, Brewers 3: Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Cardinals to a win agaisnt the Milwaukee Brewers in St. Louis.

Paul Goldschmidt and Paul DeJong also knocked in runs for the Cardinals.

Andrew Miller tossed a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts to get the win. Jordan Hicks gave up a run in the ninth, but earned the save.

Travis Shaw went 2-for-4, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Brewers. Orlando Arcia also knocked in a run.

Cubs 7, Dodgers 2: Chicago scored early to beat Los Angeles at Wrigley Field.

Willson Contreras smacked a three-run double to key a four-run first inning and get the Cubs off to a fast start. Contreras scored on a double by Daniel Descalso.

Anthony Rizzo clubbed a two-run homer in the second inning to up Chicago’s lead to 6-0 through two innings. Javier Baez connected for a solo home run in the seventh to give the Cubs a 7-2 lead.

The Dodgers scored in the third inning on a double by Justin Turner and in the seventh on a groundout by Chris Taylor.

Jose Quintana tossed the first seven innings. He allowed two runs, four hits and two walks, with seven strikeouts.
