PRINCETON – Franklin E. (Hank) Donnelly, 86, of Princeton, IL, died peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019.
He was born on November 14, 1932 to Edward and Catherine (Faley) Donnelly. He graduated from Ohio High School. He was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Beverly Ann Baker on November 12, 1955. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio, IL and served as a trustee for many years. More recently he was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, IL. He farmed in the Dover area his entire life. He also worked as a carpenter building many homes, including homes for his children.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary (Wayne) Stone, Rebecca (Gary) Peach, Patricia (Jerry) Jackson, and Sheila (Jim) Kelly, all of Princeton; three sons, Ed (Ann) Donnelly of Walnut, Bryan (Robin) Donnelly of Ohio, and Joe (Susan) Donnelly of Ohio. Also surviving are two sisters, Shirley Donnelly of Princeton and Joan (Ed) Anderson of Ohio, and one brother Dan (Isabelle) Donnelly of Chillicothe. He has 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special friend, Peggy Scudder of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, of 54 years Beverly Donnelly; two brothers, James and Bernard; three grandchildren, Josh Price, Mary Jackson Knuth, and Bridget Donnelly, and one brother-in-law, Ralph Baker.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at St. Louis Catholic Church. A Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Father Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church hall. Internment will be at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ohio, IL.
