ROCK FALLS – The City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to fill a ward seat vacant since May.
Gabriella “Gabbi” Palmer, 26, a senior financial analyst at Allegion in Princeton, will be sworn in Monday as a 1st Ward alderwoman.
“I think Gabriella brings a lot to the table as a young person who’s community-minded,” Mayor Bill Wescott said. “I look forward toward her participation with other members of the council.
“It’ll be good to get eight people back on the council.”
Two council members from each of the city’s four wards serve staggered 4-year terms.
Longtime Alderman Daehle Reitzel moved out of the 1st Ward and resigned May 8.
Palmer will represent the ward alongside Alderman William Wangelin, who was appointment to fill the vacancy created Nov. 22 when George Logan Jr. resigned.
Both of their appointments expire in April 2021, when Palmer would have to run for a 2-year term, and then in 2023, a 4-year term if she wants to continue to serve.
