Kids found a wet way to cool off Wednesday afternoon during the Dixon Park District's SPARK (Sportsmanship Positivity Appreciation Respect Kindness) Camp. The program's 70 campers spent the day at the Meadows doing fun and luckily cooling activities on the sweltering day. A sponge race had the kids move water across the field. The team with the most water in the bucket won the race. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90s for the rest of the week. Today and Friday are expected to reach 94 with heat index values in the 100s. Saturday the temperature will hit 93 with a heat index near 100. Relief will come Sunday afternoon as a storm moves through the area to bring temperatures in the low 80s by Monday.
