STERLING – Sauk Valley Foodbank will have its 14th give away day from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at 1801 Plant Road.
“While we don’t normally do direct-to-client handouts, these events are a great way for us to connect to the community we serve, both with the clients and with others looking to support our mission. “In just a few years, this foodbank went from a wobbly desk and a table lamp to serving thousands of individuals. And with the launch of our website this past April, we’ve seen our outreach grow exponentially! It’s very exciting,” said Sauk Valley Foodbank Executive Director Andrea Hensgen.
There are additional plans in the coming months to partner with pantries and grant them the space to host these giveaway days themselves. The Foodbank also is also in need of volunteers to continue pantry day giveaways.
No proof of income is needed, as there will be forms on hand to self-verify the income limits established by The State of Illinois Department of Human Services.
