Business Notebook: Two reasons to be happy

Thrift shop moving to larger location; restaurant adds breakfast

ROCK FALLS – Happy Tails Humane Society’s Thrifty Outlet store is on the prowl.

The Rock Falls-based nonprofit animal shelter’s store that sold clothes, knick-knacks, home decor and more is moving from its current location at Bazaar Americana, 609 W. Third St. in Sterling to 206 Dixon Ave. in Rock Falls on Dec. 7.

Saturday is the final day in Sterling, where business began on June 8; all items will be 75% off and free books and toys will be offered.

Business has been successful, and the new space will provide 1,500 additional square feet to accommodate more items, shelter Director Donald Czyzyk said.

The store is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Donations of clothing, knick-knacks, home decor, VHS tapes, DVDs, cassettes, records, etc. are accepted, but not television sets, mattresses and heavy furniture.

Find Happy Tails on Facebook, go to happytailsanimalshelter.org or call 815-626-2994 for more information.

Happy Spot to
offer breakfast

DEER GROVE – Nearly 6 months after opening its new building, there’s something else new at The Happy Spot: breakfast.

The restaurant’s signature chicken won’t be on the breakfast menu, but eggs will – it will be part of an all-you-can-eat buffet from 8 a.m. to noon on the first Sunday of each month. Biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, pancakes and hash browns also will be served.

The new building opened on June 5, 11 months after a fire destroyed the previous building.

The Happy Spot is otherwise open from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Find it on Facebook or call 815-438-5282 for more information.
