Sterling police looking for suspect in Saturday night stabbing

STERLING – Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a stabbing Saturday night in the 600 block of Locust Street.

The injured man was in serious condition Sunday at CGH Medical Center, where police responded to the emergency room shortly before 10 p.m., Sgt. Joshua Weber said in a news release.

Police have identified a suspect, but no names or other details are being released this early in the investigation. It’s an isolated incident and the public is not believed to be at risk, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 815-632-6640 or the anonymous reward hotline Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 815-625-7867. Information leading to an arrest and conviction comes with a reward of up to $1,000.
