Music and the enticing smell of freshly cooked food filled the air in downtown Sterling on Saturday afternoon for the annual Taste of Fiesta. The 6-hour event featured food, music, arts, crafts, dancing, and informational booths. If you missed the party, don’t worry, you’ll have another chance to celebrate the area’s Hispanic culture this Saturday when the 65th annual Fiesta Days Parade takes to the Twin Cities’ streets. Entries will line up on 10th Street in Rock Falls, travel north on First Avenue, cross the bridge to Sterling, travel north on Locust Street to Fourth Street and end at the Grandon Civic Center. A vendor fair and performances by Grupo Alegria, Grupo Jalisco, and the Glenview Middle School Mariachi Band from East Moline will follow the parade. In addition, food vendors will be set up in downtown Sterling and Rock Falls before, during and after the parade.
