This was my first summer being a dad.
My daughter, Olivia, is 9 months old today, and she’s just the best.
During the summer, I usually look forward to camping, maybe having some beers and enjoying an occasional cigar around a fire somewhere, and enjoying other recreational activities outside. I also enjoy going to garage sales with my wife, Michelle.
Not much of that has happened this year.
More responsibilities at work, with some late nights here and there. More responsibilities at home, of course.
I did clear out about eight ginormous, overgrown bushes on our property, and managed to keep our gardens (somewhat) thriving, with a baby and puppy. So, there's that.
I just always wish I could do more, but I've had to remind myself that's just not how life is right now.
Camping can wait a few years. These projects at home will get done. I'll get more sleep ... someday.
What do I want to do before summer ends? Make more memories with my wife, my daughter, our pets, family and friends. I want to take more pictures. (I'm not sure that's possible, but by golly, I'll try.) I want to remember to slow down, take deep breaths, and enjoy the ride.
Olivia is only going to be this little once, and I don't want to take even a minute for granted.
