A whole raft of people floated down the Rock River on Saturday during the Rockin’ on the Rock River Float. Hundreds of people in tubes, kayaks, boats, rafts and other floatables poured into the river at Lowell Park during the afternoon and spent the next few hours of a hot and humid summer day keeping their cool while having a laugh, hoisting some brews and listening to music courtesy of Redneck DJ, who joined them for the trip. Riders went with the flow to Hillbilly Haven campgrounds, where they wrapped up the day with an after-party featuring music by DJ Hollywood and Bloody Gulch. Green River Riders and the Hillbilly Haven organized the event, which attracted an estimated 600 people. Proceeds will be donated to the Rock River Development Authority and the Dixon Park District.
