A bicyclist was spotted along the path in Dixon Thursday afternoon on a cold but wind free day. It was the cold before the storm that might blanket the Sauk Valley area with snow Friday evening at Saturday. The National Weather Service forecast 1 to 3 inches of snow for much of the area. Lighter amounts of an inch should blanket Oregon and parts of Ogle County. Dixon and Lee County could see 2 or more inches which Sterling and Rock Falls might have 3 inches. Heading south? Areas south of the Quad Cities might see 6 or more inches by Saturday night. Temperatures are forecast to hover around the freezing mark with a high of 33 on Friday, 32 on Saturday, and 33 on Sunday. Low temperatures are in the upper 20s.
