It was an extravaganza folks didn’t want to miss. Oregon School District’s 25th annual Band Extravaganza filled the Blackhawk Center with music Thursday night, when bands from throughout the district took center stage to show off their musical talents. Fifth- and sixth-grade bands, along with the junior high and high school bands entertained the crowd, leading up to a fiery finale when the bands joined forces with alumni from Oregon and Mount Morris high schools to perform “The Firebird.” Before the oodles of music there were oodles of noodles, courtesy of a pasta dinner fundraiser hosted by the high school band. Miles Beske along with Mitch Lauer were the two music instructors who started the Band Extravaganza in 1995. Over 200 students performed during this event.
