Register Now For Highly Sought-After Radiologic Technology Program

If you want to pursue an exciting career in the medical field, consider entering Sauk Valley Community College's Radiologic Technology program. Each year, SVCC admits 24 students into its two-year Associate of Applied Science Rad Tech degree program. For prospective students hoping to begin the program in the Fall of 2019, complete applications must be submitted by March 1, 2019.

"A radiologic technologist works with patients, and creates diagnostic images for a radiologist to interpret," said Dianna Brevitt, Sauk Valley's Rad Tech Program Director. "They work in all areas of a hospital, including ER, Surgery, and Pediatrics departments."

Sauk Valley Community College is the only community college in the area that offers this program, which is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. "One of the strengths of our program is the amount of hands-on experience our students receive," added Brevitt. "They'll earn 1,500 hours of clinical experience in two years. The importance of this is shown by the very positive responses we receive from surveys we send to our graduates' employers. They're always very satisfied with our graduates' work."

An AAS Rad Tech degree from SVCC offers students terrific opportunities after graduation. "Our students who choose to branch into MRI, CT or Education after earning their AAS are very well prepared for additional schooling," said Brevitt. "Southern Illinois University has a great program that builds on ours, and our graduates can earn a Bachelor's degree from SIU in under two years."

For more information about Sauk Valley's Rad Tech Program, visit www.svcc.edu/radtech. Prospective students must attend an informational meeting before applying for the program. "We offer a one-hour meeting once a month, where we talk about academic criteria that are necessary to apply, and we hand out applications," added Brevitt. "The next meeting is February 19th. Anyone with questions can contact me at 815-835-6362."
