Elise Moeller spiked 13 kills, and Maddie Sands had 13 digs to lead the Rock Falls volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-11 victory over Big Northern foe Oregon on Thursday night at the Blackhawk Center.
Kennedy Shaw dished 12 assists, and Kylie Fischbach added nine assists and five digs for Rock Falls (10-0, 2-0). Makiah Alvarado finished with four kills.
Jenae Bothe had six kills and three blocks, and Jadyn Bothe added four kills for Oregon (6-4, 1-1). Ella Martinez dished 14 assists.
Sterling def. Rock Island 25-7, 25-20: The Golden Warriors won a Western Big 6 match on the road in straight sets.
Grace Gould had 12 kills, and Grace Egan added 11. Bree Borum had 23 assists and eight digs, and Lexi Rodriguez had 12 digs.
Egan also served a pair of aces.
Fulton def. Riverdale 25-17, 25-19: Emily Schipper led a balanced offense with eight kills, Ally Curley led a balanced defense with eight digs, and the Steamers won a Three Rivers West contest in Port Byron.
Megan Bailey added six kills, Maddie Hodge spiked five more, and Kylie Collachia finished with 22 assists, four kills and seven digs for Fulton. Kylee Sweenie served four aces.
Bureau Valley def. Hall 23-25, 25-18, 25-19: The Storm rallied after dropping the first set in Spring Valley to win a Three Rivers East match.
Lauren Wirth stuffed the stat sheet with 23 assists, 12 digs, nine points, two kills and a block, while Molly Bohm smacked nine kills and stuffed a block for BV (11-6, 3-1). Carly Konneck added seven kills and 14 digs, Savanna Birkey had 11 digs, Morgan Ringle had nine digs, and Brooke York chipped in three kills and a block.
Aquin def. Polo 25-23, 25-17: The Marcos lost an NUIC match in Freeport.
Nicole Boelens had five aces and three kills, while Alex Dusing added four kills, 10 assists and six digs for Polo. Addy Grobe finished with three kills and six digs, and Mallory Patterson chipped in two kills, two blocks and five assists.
Durand def. AFC 25-8, 25-10: The Raiders dropped an NUIC match in Ashton.
Callie Shrimplin had seven digs, four points and two kills, and Tristan Munroe added three kills and a block for AFC (3-9, 0-4). Camdyn Penick dished fiove assistsm and Brittney Mundell chipped in four digs.
Faith Christian def. Quad City Christian 3-1: Naomi Barrett spiked 20 kills, stuffed four blocks, and recorded 13 digs to lead the Falcons to an NICC victory in Grand Detour.
Meghan Van Buren finished with nine kills, 14 assists and eight digs for Faith (14-1), and Krissy Royer added 16 assists and seven aces. Claire Miller led the way with 19 digs.
Rock Falls 157, Byron 167: The Rockets fired six scores of 44 or better in a Big Northern dual victory at Rock River Golf & Pool.
Kody Velazquez, Jalen Bickett and Tyler Fauble tied for medalist honors with matching 39s, and Grant Wasson fired a 40. Spencer Schutz added a 43, and Brayden Schulz fired a 44 for Rock falls.
Vance Hunter and Eric Detig both fired 40s for the Tigers.
West Carroll 198, Le-Win/Pearl City 209: The Thunder won by 11 strokes at Wolf Hollow.
West Carroll’s Deacon Hill was the medalist, shooting a 44. Jacob McLuckie was second with a 48. Dillon Hill carded a 52, and Eric Johnston added a 54.
Rockford Lutheran 204, Dixon 231: The Dukes fell at Sandy Hollow in Rockford.
Ethan Sherman shot a 47 for Dixon, and Grant Jacobs added a 53.
Rock Falls 189, Byron 203: The Rockets had five of the top seven scores to win a Big Northern duel at Rock River Golf & Pool.
Ellie Wasson was medalist with a 9-pver-par 44, while Laurne Tupper shot a 47 and Brooke Danreiter fired a 48. Madison Thatcher (5) also counted toward Rock Falls’ score, and Peyton Burns shot a 52.
Paige Bukoski and Addie Ebersohl led the Tigers with 47s.
Le-Win-Pearl City 226, West Carroll 227: The Thunder lost by a single stroke at Wolf Hollow.
West Carroll’s Emily Hartman had two pars and a birdie to take medalist honors with a 44. Corey Johnson shot a 57 for the Thunder, and Sam Knight added a 60.
Sterling 7, Princeton 0: Lucas Sotelo and Adrian Herrera scored two goals each as the Golden Warriors rolled to a win on the road.
Bryan Garcia, Brandon Gonzalez and John Cid also scored goals for Sterling.
Newman 3, Rockford Lutheran 2: The Comets won at Sauk Valley Community College, as Avery Meyer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Sydney Schott and Madalyn Ryan won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Lutheran did not have a No. 3 doubles team. Lutheran’s No. 2 doubles pair of Melanie Horn and Abbie Lauer beat Brynlee Hermeyer and Marisel Schalk 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. Lutheran also won the No. 2 singles match, as Adrianna Richardson beat Sophia Propheter 6-2, 6-1.
