The Park District laid the groundwork for the Water Wonderland Splash Pad, and on Friday, crews were laying blocks for its restrooms. DNR Electric and Knigge Mason Contractor volunteered their time to help build the restrooms and pavilion at the recently opened splash pad in Meadows Park. The Dixon businesses’ donated time and effort are the latest examples of the community coming together to support the splash pad; the bulk of the nearly $550,000 project was paid for with community donations, beginning with a $200,000 donation from Tom and Kathi Sherman. The Park District and city each committed $100,000, and the community chipped in $140,000. Other local businesses and volunteers have donated labor, too.
