Sauk Valley reports 20 new coronavirus cases Thursday

The Sauk Valley reported 20 new cases of coronavirus Thursday with 11 in Whiteside, two in Lee and seven in Ogle counties.

Whiteside County had two new cases in their 20s and 40s, two in their 30s, four in their 50s and three in their 60s, as well as three new recoveries, for a total of 384 cases, 17 deaths and 297 recoveries.

Lee County reported two cases in their 20s, and had five new recoveries totaling 185 cases, one death and 146 recoveries.

Ogle County had seven new cases for a total of 438 cases, five deaths and 394 recoveries.

Carroll County remains at 75 cases, four deaths and 57 recoveries.

Testing in the Sterling area totals 1,756 tests and 148 positive cases. Rock Falls had 1,042 tests and 71 cases, and Dixon had 3,238 tests and 146 cases.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen four days of positivity increase and one day of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate decreased to 3.9%. Currently, 43% of medical/surgical beds are available and 60% of ICU beds.

Illinois announced 1,834 new cases and 24 additional deaths, totaling 200,427 cases and 7,696 deaths. The preliminary 7-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Aug. 6 to Aug. 12 is 4%.
